5.6 Feasible-Region Differences

Projection of the coupled feasible set

The CCD-feasible physical designs are

PCCD=pP:thereexistszwithR(p,z)=0andg(p,z)0.P_{CCD} = {p ∈ P : there exists z with R(p,z)=0 and g(p,z) ≤ 0}.

Nested and simultaneous formulations target this same set when their models and constraints match. A one-pass baseline evaluates only the slice at its frozen pseqp_{seq}. An iterated baseline samples a path of handoff points but does not necessarily characterize PCCDP_{CCD}.

Plant-only feasibility can be misleading in both directions. A passive constraint may reject a plant that active control could make feasible, while a plant-only optimum may require actuator effort unavailable to the final controller.
