About me
I am Saeid Bayat, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, working under the supervision of Prof. Lei Zuo. My research focuses on control co-design (CCD) and multidisciplinary design optimization for renewable energy systems, with applications in floating offshore wind turbines and wave energy converters.
I earned my Ph.D. in Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign (UIUC), advised by Prof. James T. Allison, where I worked on integrating optimization, advanced control, and physical system modeling to improve the performance of complex engineered systems.
Broadly, my work spans control co-design, renewable energy system design, AI-based and surrogate-assisted modeling, mechatronics and embedded systems, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. I enjoy developing computational frameworks and experimental validation approaches that connect control, dynamics, and physical hardware to enable more efficient and resilient clean energy technologies.
Here is my CV and feel free to contact me for collaboration or opportunities.
